FIRST EVER AUBURN AREA TURKEY DRIVE
TO REQUEST A TURKEY:
HOW TO DONATE A TURKEY:
The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet is hosting the first ever Auburn area TURKEY DRIVE on November 19, 2016 from 9-6 in the Grocery Outlet Parking lot at 414 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn. The turkeys from the KCRA drive in Sacramento never reach Auburn so we have decided it is time for Auburn to have its own turkey drive!
We need YOU to DONATE FROZEN TURKEYS! The turkeys will be for low income families of three or more in the Auburn area. Our goal is to have at least 800 turkeys donated. We will only be able to give out the number of turkeys that are donated. If you buy them ahead, keep them frozen and then bring them to the trailer in the Grocery Outlet parking lot on the 19th between 9 a.m.and 6 pm. Do not take them to the Food Closet. Grocery Outlet will store turkeys purchased from them beginning early November.
Our thanks goes to our sponsors who are helping make this possible:
Wells Fargo Bank, Grocery Outlet, Auburn Moving Company, and the Auburn Journal.
The main purpose of the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet is to provide nutritious food to individuals and families who do not have sufficient resources to purchase it themselves. This group includes low income workers, seniors, disabled, unemployed, homeless, and people in transition. We utilize the USDA nutrition guideline to ensure the families receive the right types of foods.
We are a ministry outreach for our faith-based congregations and volunteers. We care about our community, the people we serve and our volunteers. We collaborate with other organizations that support our vision, mission, values, and strategy. Our volunteers come from our sponsoring congregations; we have no paid staff.
Private donations are our main source of funds. We are a non-profit public benefit corporation 501 (c) (3); and, therefore, all donations are tax deductible.
